Pricing on self-propelled sprayers is not always straightforward. Manufacturers list base prices, but the final number depends on tank size, engine options, boom configuration, cab features, and a dozen other variables. If you have been shopping around, you have probably noticed the wide range and wondered what is driving it.
We can give you a realistic picture based on what we see in the market, including our own lineup.
Four things account for most of the variation between models:
**Tank capacity** is the biggest factor. A 600-liter sprayer costs significantly less than a 2000-liter unit because the chassis, suspension, and braking system all scale up with the tank. More capacity means more steel, more structure, and more weight rating.
**Engine power** comes next. A 20–25 HP diesel engine is relatively inexpensive. Bumping up to a 100 HP engine for a large sprayer adds cost not just for the engine itself but for the cooling system, drivetrain, and fuel tank.
**Boom features** matter too. A manual-fold boom is cheap but slow. A hydraulic tri-fold boom with breakaway sections costs more but saves time and reduces repair bills from accidental impacts.
**Cab specification** is where you see the biggest range. An open station or basic cab with no AC is significantly cheaper than a sealed, air-conditioned, suspended cab with digital controls. The cheap cab saves money upfront. The expensive cab saves your operator's back and attention over the years.
These are approximate ranges for new self-propelled sprayers in the current market, in USD. Prices vary by region, configuration, and optional features.
**600–800 liter models** (e.g., 3WPZ-600, 3WPZ-600A)
These are compact, lightweight machines suitable for smaller farms or operations on flat terrain. They typically use 20–30 HP engines with manual or simple hydraulic booms in the 8–14 meter range.
Expected range: $15,000 – $25,000
**800–1000 liter models** (e.g., 3WPZ-800, 3WPZ-1000 series)
This is the most popular bracket. These machines balance capacity with weight. Most feature 30–50 HP engines, hydraulic booms in the 12–16 meter range, and four-wheel drive.
Expected range: $22,000 – $38,000
**1400 liter models** (e.g., 3WPZ-1400 series)
These are heavy-duty machines for large farms. They run 80–100 HP engines with full hydraulic systems, larger tires, and more robust booms.
Expected range: $35,000 – $55,000
**2000 liter models** (e.g., 3WPZ-2000)
High-capacity machines designed for the largest operations. These are the top of the line — high-horsepower engines, wide booms, advanced hydraulic systems, and premium cabs.
Expected range: $50,000 – $75,000
The used market for self-propelled sprayers is active. A well-maintained machine with 500–1000 hours typically sells for 50 to 70 percent of the new price. But condition matters a lot. A sprayer that has run abrasive chemicals without proper flushing can have internal corrosion that is not obvious during a walk-around inspection.
If you are buying used, pay special attention to:
- Tank interior (check for cracking or chemical residue buildup)
- Hydraulic hose condition (replacing all hoses costs thousands)
- Boom straightness (a bent boom never sprays evenly)
- Rust around electronic connections
A self-propelled sprayer is not a small purchase. But the question is not just the purchase price. It is the cost per hectare over the machine's life.
A $30,000 sprayer running 500 hectares per year for five years costs $12 per hectare in equipment. Add fuel, maintenance, and labor, and you are at $18–25 per hectare. That is competitive with custom sprayer rates in most regions, and you control the timing.
